The Buildout is an independent editorial product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operating on behalf of the U.S. federal government or any of the agencies whose data it indexes.

All structured records on this site come from public U.S. government databases (USAspending.gov, Federal Register, Grants.gov, SAM.gov, agency RSS feeds). We strive for accuracy but we cannot guarantee that the upstream sources are error-free, nor that every record is captured at the moment it's published.Nothing on this site is legal, financial, procurement, or investment advice.Verify any record against the primary source before acting on it.

Sector classifications, plain-English summaries, weekly intros, and recipient narratives are produced by large language models. They may be wrong. They may misrepresent the underlying data. Each page makes clear which fields are LLM-generated.

The public read-only API at /api is offered free of charge, on a best-effort basis, with rate limits. Reasonable scraping is fine. Abusive load or attempts to evade rate limits will be blocked. If you need higher volumes, email us — we're building a paid tier.

The Buildout is provided "as-is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Use at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising out of your use of the site, the API, or the newsletter.

Do not use the site, the data, or the API to: harass identifiable individuals; mass-mail recipients of federal funding; impersonate the government; or build a product that misrepresents the provenance of the data. We reserve the right to block any client we believe is doing any of these.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page and called out in the weekly brief.
